Writing nonfiction professionally has been a long-cherished, but also long-neglected, dream. I could happily devote trance-like hours to it. Sharing important ideas and stories on conservation is an obvious topic, but I’m also interested in creative nonfiction more broadly, including travel writing and personal essays. I’ve finally started a Substack to share this more personal writing – please check it out!
Below are some other samples of writings I’ve done, including a couple that were published on Medium magazines and one for Deep Sea News. I also have an invited chapter on The Ocean & Communities in the book The Ocean & Us, a compilation edited by Fairah Obaidullah of Women4Oceans.
One vehicle for exploring conservation writing has been my Conservation Realist newsletter, though the writing does tend to be quite quick and informal there. I also hope to find the courage & resilience to start pitching for real this year.
